07:00 pm I love having my LJ as a wonderful reminder of things I forget from the last few years but I'm moving on. For the most part. When I'm feeling exceptionally ramble-y or feel like writing something really personal, I may still write here. But for now, I'll be blogging (hopefully more often than I did here) at
http://unicornrainbows.blogspot.com/
I just started it. I'll probably mess with formatting and the main picture a bit in the next few weeks. But I'm looking forward to writing more and writing more coherently and cohesively. And about a lot of random or interesting shit. And of course, lots of pictures of cats.

11:01 pm i just came back from talking to these ladies: http://girldrive.blogspot.com/ they are pretty cool and doing a really awesome project. so i might be on their blog soon! which is exciting except i've already thought of tons of stuff i could've/should've said that i didn't think of then :P oh well. i rarely get to talk about what feminism means to me so it was a little bit of a struggle to sound articulate and smart. i haven't really thought about the connection with my 'work' life since i've just barely begun being a non-student but it was good to chat with other awesome feminists.
this weekend was good. i went to a fundraiser for bitch magazine last night. today i had brunch at the office manager of my firm's house. she's awesome and every once in a while the women from our floor (there's another law firm on my floor) get together for girl's weekends or HH. kari made an awesome mexican food brunch and we had mimosas. friday i hung out at kerry's house and we watched 'so you think you can dance'. i am so glad i have a bunch of awesome women in my life! this was a very femtastic weekend.

11:51 am the last week has been way relaxing. haven't really done much besides sit at home and read or go to the gym or just bum around. my poor step-kitties ran away the other day. one is back but poor joe is still gone. i hope he comes back before we leave. he's probably so scared and just sitting in a bush nearby too freaked out to do anything. we don't really know what else to do. duncan and i have gone over there the past 2 days for Joe-watch 2008 and we've laid out food and walked around calling for him at night.
so i'm leaving wednesday on my lil' vacation. wednesday to monday i'll be in playa del carmen. then h'ville from the 13th to 22nd, then nyc till the 26th. can't freakin wait to see some of you!
on day 1 of cat-watch 2008, we marathon'd the 2nd season of weeds. i heart that show. it is so crazy and funny. last night we watched the mini-series introduction to battlestar galactica, which i thought was pretty good but oh so long. we might et the first few episodes. tonight, we have 28 days later (dunx and kerry haven't seen it yet) and west wing season 1. hopefully kitty will come back soon. :( come back joseph stalin!! we miss you.
[update: 2 things. 1) joe came back!! yay! he was just in the neighbor's yard. 2) umm...cat-watch 2008? i understand not knowing what day it is but, ula, sheesh. 2008?] Current Location: club living room Current Mood: wanting joe to come back

02:11 am i'm halfway into the new harry potter. man it's soooo good!!! i forget how addictive j.k. rowling is, but damn, i just can't stop. i barely got out of the house today because i just had to know more. i did go to hang out w/my step-kitties cause kerry is in CA. i brought the book along with me so when i was done feeding them and cleaning out their litter, i could just sit on the couch and read and hang out with the kittehs. they are just oh so cute. i also hung swung by pi-rem for a bit tonight as well. it was a slow night relative for the dj, who is really awesome. last night i saw the simpsons movie, which i actually really liked. i love the spider pig song. the movie isn't as good as the prime seasons but definitely better than what i expected. although i felt christy should've been there with me. :P no other plans for this week other than seeing rufus wainwright on tuesday night. ::love him!:: i've gotta make a few plans for our mexico trip and take out a little bit more money for loans ::shakes fist at not having any money:: but that's the extent of my week. phew!
i'm not sure why, but it just makes me giggle.

12:47 am so i didn't go to the gym, and i didn't get the harry potter book. i didn't even shower till 2:00pm. but i did get a haircut and i did have an awesome dinner at farm cafe (le pigeon was a 2 hour wait :( woo first day of freedom!
today is also my one year break-up anniversary! haha, a year ago was the worst day of my year and i cried for 10 hours straight (seriously. it was 10 hours. even after a valium!), and today is probably one of the best days of my year. oh how things change.
i watched 'the eyes of tammy faye' last night, which i found crazy intriguing because she was the wife of (and was) a crazy evangelical christian yet i totally like her. she made the careers of all these current tv christians who all turned on her (just screwed her over). but i find her steadfast support of her ex-husband pretty bizarre cause she basically believes (and so sincerely) that he did nothing wrong! he just had to find a way to make money for his pursuits and that's it! she believed jim bakker was a good man long after they were divorced, which i find either/and crazy and supremely loving. she embraced the gay community in the 80s and 90s when NO ONE did. i will give her major props for that. i am sure she's in a much happier and less painful place now. Your Score: Cheezburger cat 60% Affectionate, 57% Excitable, 75% Hungry Sure, you deserve one. You helped popularized lolcats from a running gag to an online sensation. Now mainstream media writes asinine columns on this 'phenomenon', students write theses on the topic, programming languages adopt the grammar, and losers write tests about them on dating sites. Now take your cheezburger and never touch the internets again.

in other, more nerve-wracking news, i totes just got pulled over for going 30 in a 25!! seriously! as i was parking (and for some reason i've only ever gotten pulled over when i'm about to park), the cop is like "umm...this is a 25 zone, not a 30. and you're brake light is out" which, by the way, it's not. the little red plastic cover was broken out (about a dime size) but the light itself works. so he took all my info, asked if i was in a rush. i said 'no i've just been studying all night. i live right here on this block'. and when i tell him i'm studying for the bar that's on tuesday he says 'oh. i understand.' and let's me off. major. phew. but 30? in a 25? at like, 12:30 at night when there's no one in the 'hood? puh-leeze. i am just thankful for a nice po-po who didn't charge me $200 that i don't have. i will drink to that!

12:40 am - for alex so i went to see rasputina tonight, a band i just adore. melora creager, really, is who i adore. i wish we were good friends. she seems totally cool. anyway, the show itself, the band were great. for what they had to put up with. jebus, that place was so motherfuckin' hot. like a bajillion degrees. and i don't particularly mind (nor did the crowd) and have been through way more than uncomfortable heat to see bands i like. but it negatively affected the band and melora kept apologizing about having to tune a lot and how the heat is messing up the cellos and at one point sarah (the 2nd cellist, who is awesome, and you'll love her) had major problems getting everything to work so melora played a totally solo version of rusty the skatemaker (beautiful!) on the fly. it was awesome. anyway, so you could tell they were crazy uncomfortable but played amazingly despite the fact it seemed it was maybe the worst crowd i've seen. it sounded like half the place was chatting away every time it was kind of quiet. and for a 2 cello and a drum band, that's not that rare. bleh. majorly annoying. anyway, they started off with almost 45 minutes of old stuff before they ever hit a new song. so if you don't like the new album, they played mostly older songs. definitely liked it, but not my fav rasputina show. and it totes wasn't their fault. hope you love it!

01:21 pm - only exciting part of my week: i get to see rasputina tomorrow night! yay! people have been making fun of me for listening to them for forever (except alex, who is, like, the only person i know who likes them) but i don't care. they freakin' rock. i've seen them twice before and they are awesome live. i am very excited. ok back to torts..

01:04 am - what book are you? i haven't done an intarweb quiz in 4eva, but i did property all day and had to read about covenants (negative reciprocal beeetchez), recording acts, and the motherfuckin rule against perpetuities, so now i'm at home drinking wine. so there.

You're To Kill a Mockingbird!
by Harper Lee
Perceived as a revolutionary and groundbreaking person, you have changed the minds of many people. While questioning the authority around you, you've also taken a significant amount of flack. But you've had the admirable guts to persevere. There's a weird guy in the neighborhood using dubious means to protect you, but you're pretty sure it's worth it in the end. In the end, it remains unclear to you whether finches and mockingbirds get along in real life.

02:24 pm - Happy New Year's! i hope everyone had a nice fun new year's party. i went to a few parties with my friend tyler and some of his friends. we ended up at a party where i knew just about no one but it was ok cause tyler's friend cedric is incredibly entertaining and random. he kept making up stories about me when he introduced me to people. like i had just gotten out of a half-way house, or that i was crazy and needed to be on medication. tyler was a pallbearer once. and he'd say it with such seriousness that people would be like 'oh.. yea..' and just give us a weird look and walk away. tyler and i were also in various stages of going out, being married, and being divorced. anyway, i also managed to come away from the party with maybe the single grossest thing i've ever seen: pork brains in milk gravy. in a can. in only 140 calories it has 1060% of your daily recommended allowance of cholesterol. one of tyler's friends was trying to find someone who'd eat it for $20. then i managed to steal it from him cause he was really drunk. i decided it would be the funniest (and most disgusting) thing i've ever brought back from the south.

the few days before that were nice. i hung out with my friend josh (some of you met him at new year's in nashville a few years ago). that was fun... ;P it's always funny how people come back in your life every once in awhile. today me and my parents spent the last 4 hours watching tv. mostly monk, but a little l&o as well. i love holidays. only one more day before it's back to reality. i'll post pictures from my vacay here once i get them uploaded but most of them will be on facebook.
